BRUSHES FOR THE TEXTILE INDUSTRYUNITED STATES SUPPLY CO., INC. has serviced the Textile Industry since 1947, with an emphasis on Cylindrical Brushes. The textile processes requiring cylindrical brushes are many and include: application, finishing, polishing, removing, scrubbing and spreading. Depending on the requirement, the brush is specifically designed to achieve maximum performance for maximum economy. In designing the Brushes, it is important to remember that the core size, weight, and balance coupled with bristle pattern, density, and length become effectual only when correct rotational speeds, surface pressures and necessary drive specifications are recommended. We focus on these variables in order to manufacture the correct brush for your needs. Although there are literally hundreds of Cylindrical Brush variations available for use in textiles, we tend to concentrate on three basic ingredients: Winding, Bristle Arrangement and Density. By concentrating on these criteria, the engineers are able to design and manufacture specific Brushes to meet your specific requirements. BRUSH WINDING ~ FINESET - Individual strands of bristles wound on a core. Fineset winding provides even distribution and streakless brushing. The bristle strands are bound by a plastic coated binder which is impervious to attack by most solvents. TUFTED - Individual clusters or bunches of bristles impregnated with a plastic cement. These tufts are held together by a notched metallic band, affording an infinite variety of patterns. BRISTLE ARRANGEMENT ~ Denotes the actual pattern into which the bristles are wound or placed. Arrangement, by in large, determines the success of a brush application. Typical arrangements are: spiral, multi-spiral, staggered and herringbone. DENSITY ~ Refers to the tightness of the bristle pattern. Density of the Bristle Arrangement enhances the performance of the brush unit. Dense bristle patterns are generally necessary whenever uniform brushing is necessary. Both FINESET and TUFTED Winding can be densely wound. The following chart demonstrates the typical alignment of winding, bristle arrangement, and density for six different applications:
MANUFACTURING ~ State of the art Brush Winding equipment is used to manufacture every Cylindrical Brush. Each machine offers precision placement of bristles to insure a superior brush surface uniformity. In addition, only high quality, pre-approved materials are used to insure uniformity and durability. And, finally, Dynamic Balancing is a part of each Cylindrical Brush manufactured. It enables us to provide you with an extremely sophisticated product. BRISTLE MATERIALS ~ Five basic materials are used: fiber, hogs hair, horses hair, synthetics and wire. All are available in many forms offering limitless variations due to their specific properties and ability to perform specific tasks. We recommend that you discuss your specific needs with us further, so we may better advise you. ARE THE BRUSHES REFILLABLE? Yes ~ the Brushes are designed to allow refilling many times over thus, utilizing the original metal core and saving money. Shafts can be built-up, and cores straightened and re-balanced to provide a completely refurbished base unit prior to re-winding. Refilled Brushes make excellent sense as the quality is insured to be equal to a new brush but, there is a cost savings. Please fill out the Brush Application Sheet in order to receive a quote.
